Random Photo: Apartments
This is another picture from the Nagcarlan cemetery. This ones on the wall beside the chapel.
I call them apartments. In many city cemeteries now, grave plots are scarce that instead of being sold, they are being rented for several years. After time’s up, the family of the deceased can either pay more “rent” to keep the body in the plot or their bones are exhumed and placed inside these apartments. Another type is the one where the whole dead person (including the casket) is placed inside the apartments. (Most cemeteries outside of the cities have enough land for individual grave plots.
I guess this one’s not about lack of land as this is an old cemetery and located outside of Metro Manila. Like the one in Paco Cemetery, I guess this was a cemetery design during the Spanish colonial times.
